Virtual PC Center, which was announced by NEC’s Turkey Distributor Özel Technologies A.Ş. at the end of 2007 but the sales of which started in February 2008, seems to be the solution to the IT costs and confusion which cannot be restrained as the number of users increase. VPCC is based completely on “Virtualization” technology and uses VMWare software. The logic behind Virtual PC Center is the usage of the resources of the server (CPU,RAM and Hard Disk) while the NEC US-110 Thin Clients developed by Nec Computers are connected to the virtual PC’s created on the Server. As opposed to its competitors, the product has VoIP ve Video Streaming feature. This means that a box with the size of an external modem on your desk which can be mounted at the back of the monitor can become a computer, a telephone and an equipment to process uninterrupted images. You can even move your telephone number to the location from where you have logged in the system. This is why the Virtual PC Center is advertised with the catch-phrase “My desk, my line, always everywhere” in the sector. . The Product Manager of Özel Technologies, Bülent Kuğu, whom we have accessed for information, stated that enterprises that convert their IT architechture to Virtual PC Center save by 40% in three years Cost of Ownership because there is no need to upgrade the hardware, no need for maintenance as there are no active elements such as a hard disk, optical drive or fan and the power consumption is 10% of standard computers. Bülent Kuğu also mentioned the subject of performance saying that establishments can easily meet their performance needs with only small investments to servers and carry their IT structure to the future. He added that with the system management software named “Sigma System Center” belonging to NEC Computers, they can control and manage all of their IT structure easily. It is predicted that we will come across the NEC Virtual PC Center system frequently in the coming years. |
